Building websites is one of the things we do brilliantly. We understand how it needs to interact with SEO in terms of keywords and photos, so one of the most important elements of designing a website is to make sure the architecture is right before you begin building it.
This leads us neatly to the latest website build we want to show off, Dennis Sharp Architects (DSA).
DSA’s old website was nearly 20 years old so it really needed updating! It was not responsive which meant they were probably missing opportunities from potential clients searching on tablets and phones. We were also briefed to create it in the style of a ‘coffee table book’, with large, high-quality photographs of their work to showcase them as architects who make safe, practical buildings that also look good.
We have added small design touches to the site to make it stand out even more fun: the main logo gets smaller or larger when you scroll up and down, and navigation links change colour when you hover the cursor over it.
About Dennis Sharp Architects
DSA was founded in 1965 by the late Dennis Sharp, an architect who championed Modernist architecture. DSA is now run by Sharp’s wife, Yasmin Shariff, an award-winning architect in her own right. She is also a member of the RIBA Council. Based in Hertfordshire and London, DSA is involved in many type of projects including commercial, residential sustainable, and installation projects, and are experienced in listed buildings and heritage sites.
They are involved in pro bono work which has the dual benefit of giving young architects an opportunity to nurture their creative talents at the same time as helping communities around the world. Recent pro bono projects include building dams in the Sinai Desert, an FE college in Aswan, as well as work to promote the work of women architects and encourage young women to choose it as a career.
Highly thought of in the architectural world, we are very proud to have had the opportunity to work so creatively with DSA.
