In case you haven’t heard, we’ve been very busy with our Become a #TwitterHero Social Media Workshop.

“What’s that?” you say. Well, we’re currently running a mini-series of social media workshops, all designed to help businesses in the name of charity. On the 18th of May, Cariad hosted the first of our interactive learning sessions dedicated to helping businesses boost their Social Media presence, and it’s fair to say it went down as well as the croissants did!

This workshop was about the world of Twitter; Cariad’s MD, Justine Perry led the event by sharing tips on scheduling, content and much more. Dedicated to The Muscle Help Foundation, the event raised £250 towards the work of this fantastic cause. The Muscle Help Foundation is a local charity that works with young people with muscle dystrophy to help them achieve their dreams and have experiences they otherwise wouldn’t have the opportunity to do.

It was an early rise for some, and possibly a lie-in for others (but smiles all round) as everyone met at Cariad HQ for 8am for a light breakfast of tea and crumpets and croissants and a bit of informal networking before getting to the main event. It was lovely to see a few familiar faces but also some new ones too, but you know what we’re like with new people…

It was nice to see that The Muscle Help Foundation also made it into the Mercury as well, which is great! And who doesn’t want a charity donation on a big cheque!

We spoke to a couple of attendees to see what they thought of the event.

Alison Jenkins of Alison Jenkins Photography

“I thoroughly enjoyed the Twitter workshop and have picked up some useful tips that I did not know about. The workshop has inspired me to use Twitter more often and realise that it is a powerful tool in boosting your business presence. Everything was clearly explained and questions answered. I would highly recommended anyone to this workshop.”

Gillian MacDonald, Isabel Hospice

“I came along to the Twitter training with two of my colleagues, all with various levels of Twitter knowledge. It was really interesting and was useful for each of us, covering a wide range of tips and ideas for us to implement for the future. It definitely gave us some pointers for campaigns and we hope it will enable us to spread awareness of our end-of-life care to a wider audience, and convert interest into sign-ups for our fundraising events.”

Elaine Diviney, 001 LTD

“I attended the #Twitter Hero workshop, Justine was an excellent media trainer who shared her knowledge in a fun and engaging way that was appropriate for the audience.  I couldn’t wait to get onto my Twitter account, I left the training a lot wiser about social media and the part it can play at a corporate level.  I would highly recommend Cariad for Social Media Training.”

Amanda Thurston, Curwens LLP Solicitors

“What a great idea…. to mix networking, twitter tips and croissants. I now feel more confident to make proper use of twitter for marketing, raising my business profile and to reach a wider audience”

If you’re now sorry you missed the workshop, it’s not too late – our next one will be held on 29th June. This time, the subject is LinkedIn and the charity is Isabel Hospice. Places are already selling, so, if you are interested in coming along, meeting the team and learning how to get your head around LinkedIn don’t want to book yourself a place. And we’ll be holding a further workshop on LinkedIn on 12th July, with the money going to Steph’s Wishes. Keep an eye on our website for details, or email [email protected] and ask to be put on the mailing list.

These aren’t the first charity events that we have done and they certainly won’t be last! In fact, the Cariad crew will actually be taking part in next month’s ‘Colour Me Happy 2016’ run for Isabel Hospice so if you want to get covered in paint as you run, or stand around and get covered in paint, then come and see us at the red zone.

If you know you should be doing more on social media but don’t have the time to do it properly, why not book a meeting with us? We can sit down and discuss with you about outsourcing your social media and get that weight taken off your shoulders.
